Today, I had the privilege of participating in a lively debate on Shannonside FM’s Let’s Talk with Daniel Considine. Alongside several of the other candidates running in the Longford-Westmeath constituency, we tackled some of the most pressing issues facing our community and Country.
The discussion covered a range of critical topics, including the housing crisis, the rising cost of living, and the need for action on the environment. These are challenges that impact families, individuals, and businesses in our constituency every day.
Housing
I spoke about some of my solutions to the housing crisis. Including how to address the shortage of affordable homes and quality affordable rental accommodation. I shared my vision for sustainable development, ensuring that new housing projects meet the needs of today while planning for the future.
Cost of Living
On the cost of living, I highlighted the need for immediate measures to ease the financial pressures people are facing – including reducing the cost of energy, and supporting families.
Climate Change
We also debated how best to tackle climate change while ensuring fairness and opportunity for rural communities like ours. I advocated for practical, locally-driven approaches to renewable energy, biodiversity, and sustainable farming, ensuring we transition to a green future – collaborating with everyone in the community.
